Dr RS Sodhi IDA president & MD AMUL, inaugurates renovated building of IDA (South Zone) Bangalore

Dr RS Sodhi, Managing Director of AMUL and President Indian Dairy Association (IDA), New Delhi, inaugurated the renovated IDA South zone’s building of 1968. IDA was established in 1948 as Indian Dairy Science Association, which started at Bangalore, later it was named as India Dairy Association and its office was shifted from Bangalore to its own premise at IDA House, Sector-IV, RK Puram, New Delhi 110022.
The IDA (SZ) building’s foundation was laid down on 1st May 1968, which was completed and opened for use on 20th December 1968, by Dr Zal R Kothavalla. The building needed renovation from several years, finally the current Indian Dairy Association, South Zone’s executive committee took a decision to get it renovated. It constituted a committee, for monitoring the renovation work.

The IDA now has a history of around six decades, it has had the privilege of being headed by several Presidents and some of them were of national and international fame. The luminaries like Sardar Datar Singh, Dr. K.C. Sen, Dr. Z.R. Kothawalla, Dr. D.N. Khurody, Dr. V. Kurien, Dr. P. Bhattacharya were the past presidents of the IDA.
IDA has been providing a common forum to knit the dairy fraternity together and thus, over the years, it has emerged as the reigning czarina of information. The Association is managed by an apex policy making body called the “Central Executive Committee” (CEC). The CEC is headed by President (Dr RS Sodhi) and supported by two Vice-Presidents and 19 Executive Committee Members. Similarly, the IDA (SZ) is headed by its Chairman, supported by 2 vice Chairmen, secretary, treasurer and the members.
